I feel like creatively I’ve been unstoppable. I can’t help it, I just love writing so much. I’ve been working on a concept album called Violet Love. It is the greatest hits album of a teen idol gone wrong. This characters journey is from Hannah Montana to Amy Winehouse in 12 songs. I’ve got 3 songs on the go. I recorded for the first time ever with producer, David Matheson. I’m recording more this weekend. I need 3 songs for this songwriter expo I’m going to in Durango, Colorado. I’m going with my friend, Ana Trask, who is a singer/songwriter.
It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done because I am not a natural born singer in the least. Hearing yourself recorded is horrible. But despite this I really like my songs and the dream is cast someone great to sing it (ya know if I had the funds) but until then it’s all me.
I am having so much fun creating this character. Here’s the make shift website that’s not even close to done yet: Violet Loves Music
Each song on the album represents an age in this characters life.
Visually I’m going for a comic book look for this character. This a rough idea what she might look like. I like the look of something half drawn and half real I feel like it speaks volumes especially for this concept I am trying to develop.
At 17 Violet has her first major hit song called Popstar!
Not sure what Violet will look like at 27 but that’s when she’s at her worst.
This weekend I am recording this song I have been working for like 2 years called 12 Steps (To Get Over You).
The overall theme of this project is in essence about identity.
Anyway this project is really exciting to me and I am filled with inspiration and ideas and yeah.
I love your enthusiasm and the pleasure that sipped through your ALP article. That’s what counts as creating the songs, the characters makes you vibrate and feel alive. I wish you great success os course but in my eyes you already succeeded!!!
