Pure Imagination

“If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it”

Paradise is a musical.  The next best thing for me – I suppose – would be karaoke.

I went to karaoke last night.  I joined my new friend Gabriel and his group of friends who regularly meet at Grindhouse Burger Bar every week.  They’ve been doing this for awhile I gather as each week is a different letter of the alphabet to choose songs to sing.  Last night it was songs that start with letter ‘Q’.  I arrived late so I missed ‘Quit Playing Games with my Heart’ and then ‘Queen of the Night’ was sung.  So I decided to go with the songs I had decided I would sing before I got there: Cabaret and I wrote down Eye of the Tiger but it was so busy I only got to sing the one song.  My friend sang 2 songs.  He sang ‘Pure Imagination’ and ‘Mr. Cellophane’.  There was one other musical theatre maven amongst the singers – she sang a song from Legally Blonde the musical and then one from Glee.  She was really good.  Not sure if I’m going again next week cause my friend won’t be there and I just met his other friends it might be weird.  Plus I don’t know if I really fit in with this crowd – I mean a guy sang a Frank Sinatra song in Portuguese because he thought the english lyrics were really lame.  Am I ready to run with this crowd?  But there is a karaoke night around the corner from where I live on Wednesdays nights.  Hopefully that one won’t be so busy and I can sing more songs.

I guess if I want to sing in public karaoke is probably the only way at this point I can do it.  With no friggin starring roles or any roles for that matter it’s all a girl can do.

My friend has a list of songs he wants to sing, I’d like to do the same thing.  Here:
